As an advocate and veterans housing expert, Christopher LaFayelle fought (and is still in the fight) to provide veterans and their families with access to housing and supportive services.
Good Evening Veteran and Community Leaders,
On behalf of Illinois Governor Pat Quinn and the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs (IDVA), I would like to personally invite you to the ground-breaking of the new $70.5 million Illinois Veterans’ Home – Chicago . The Chicago Home, which when complete will be the IDVA's fifth veterans’ home, will be the State's first veterans home serving the hundreds of thousands of veteran families that reside in Chicago and northeastern Illinois. The ground breaking for the construction of this new facility demonstrates the State's commitment to the veteran community.
Once construction is complete, this 200-bed, 5 story skilled-care facility will serve hundreds of veterans per year, will create hundreds of permanent jobs, and will feature the most innovative construction features, such as the community living concept, LEED silver certified efficient energy, and modern technological upgrades.
By now, you should have also received a formal e-invitation from the Office of the Governor. Because of your personal and organizational support of Illinois veterans, you are being invited to help us celebrate this momentous event. I hope you can join us by wearing your organizational apparel, your hats and pins, and/or wearing your military and veteran affiliation to showcase the unity of the veteran community in Illinois.
